Owner: City of North Las Vegas
Scope of Work and Challenges: TMCx is providing building commissioning services, including third-party life-safety testing, for the North Las Vegas City Hall facility. Early challenges on the project dealt with design reviews. TMCx reviewed the 50% drawings and worked with the design team to deal with deficiencies in the Life Safety arena. Also critical was our review of the Basis of Design to ensure it met the Owner’s Project Requirements. A few OPR’s were negotiated. TMCx also ensured the Commissioning and Life Safety requirements were detailed accurately in the construction documents. Although the project is progressing fairly smoothly, TMCx had to address omitted areas with the design and construction teams.

Project Description: The TMCx Life Safety Team has performed special inspection services of the mechanical smoke control systems for Summerlin Hospital Medical Center since 2005. This includes new expansions and recertification of the existing smoke control systems. United Health Services retained TMCx for special inspection services of the smoke control system for the new 6-story Bed Tower Addition completed in December of 2009. In 2010, our Team will conduct a facility–wide recertification of the smoke control system.
Project Size: Approximately 170,000 square feet
Project Cost: $100M
Scope of Work: In addition to the mechanical smoke control recertification, our Life Safety Team provided life safety design review. This review confirmed the conformance of the fire alarm and automatic sprinkler systems with applicable codes. On-going testing by TMCx will ensure the smoke control system will continue to perform in accordance with the original design intent.
Adherence to Budget/Schedule: The team effort by the general contractor and TMCx resulted in the project being completed on schedule and under budget, with the entire hospital completely tested and proven functional.
